Breadcrumbs

Bread, one of life's most joyous things to eat. Either as a sandwich or toast and even puddings. It is very versatile in it's uses. There are also things to make when it has gone past its best or stale even. The thing is most of us would throw it away, when it has gone slightly dry round the edges or we have no other uses for it. The answer for this madness is to turn them into breadcrumbs. Store bought can be very dissappointing and the fact they look orangey brown does'nt appeal either. Making your own helps you keep that unwanted dry piece of bread for another day. Plus you can mix and match what goes in, like pitta bread, wholemeal and seeded breads. This will change the texture of your crumb and make it more unique to you.

Simply dice up the stale loaf/bread then scatter over a baking tray. Place in a 150C oven until dried out but not completely. Place in a food processor and whizz until you have breadcrumbs. Return back to the baking tray in a thin layer, placing back in the oven to dry completely. Times will differ on types of bread and thickness.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely. Once cooled place in a kilner jar to keep fresh.
